What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a deep relaxed state that uses guided visualization.  The power comes from inside of
you and it is an easy way to stop the negative self-talk that can sabotage desired goals.
Hypnotherapy can help you break old habits and patterns that you cannot seem to conquer
consciously.  Hypnosis allows the conscious mind to be quiet while accessing the subconscious
mind so they can come together in agreement.

For example: Let's say you have a fear of public speaking.  Consciously you know that there is no
reason to be scared or nervous because you know the information and you are speaking to people
who want to learn from you.  However, even though you consciously know this, your heart still
starts pounding and you feel shaky and weak in your body.  Hypnosis enables your subconscious
mind to agree with your conscious mind which dissolves those physical reactions and helps you
to remain calm and confident in your presentation.

When accessing the subconscious directly, suggestions that
fit within a person's belief system can be accepted as new
reality. The suggestions have to be in agreement with a
person's moral belief system otherwise the suggestion will be rejected.

Hypnotherapy is a wonderful and effective way to take charge
of your life and make the changes you desire.  Hypnotherapy uses counseling and hypnosis in conjunction with each other.
In depth interviewing and discussion help reveal causes for issues.  The actual hypnosis helps you begin on your journey
of transformation.

Hypnosis has been approved as a therapeutic tool by the American Psychiatric Association.  It is a useful means of shifting life long attitudes which makes change easier to achieve.

Statistics:

One study was published on the effectiveness of hypnosis as an adjunct to behavioral weight management in the Journal of Clinical Psychology, 41 (1), 35-41. The study found the group that used hypnosis in conjunction with behavioral therapy had lost more significant amounts of weight at 8 month and 2 year follow ups.  In addition, more participants who used hypnosis also maintained their weight loss.

A study on the use of hypnosis with cognitive behavioral therapy for depression found that adding hypnosis to the treatment had a significant decrease in depression, anxiety, and hopelessness compared to the participants who only had cognitive therapy.  The International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis
