FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy

Does hypnosis really work?

Yes. Hypnosis is a well-established technique that helps many people change unwanted habits, reduce stress, improve confidence, overcome fears, and create lasting positive change. Research has shown that hypnosis can be an effective tool for behavior change when someone is motivated and ready to make a change.

The real power of hypnosis comes from your own mind. Hypnosis helps you access your subconscious mind, where habits, beliefs, emotions, and automatic behaviors are stored. When your subconscious begins working with your conscious goals instead of against them, change often becomes much easier.

Many clients seek hypnosis for:

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Smoking, vaping, and tobacco cessation

  • Weight management

  • Confidence and self-esteem

  • Fears and phobias

  • Breaking unwanted habits

  • Improving sleep

  • Motivation and performance

  • Releasing limiting beliefs

How many hypnotherapy sessions will I need?

The number of hypnosis sessions depends on your goals, your history, and the issue you're working on.

Some clients achieve their desired results in a single session, while others benefit from multiple sessions to reinforce lasting change.

During your first appointment, we'll discuss your goals and develop a personalized plan based on your specific needs. There is never any pressure to purchase additional sessions, and we'll always move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

How does hypnosis work?

Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention and deep relaxation that allows you to access your subconscious mind more easily. During hypnosis, your conscious mind becomes quieter, making it easier to work with the part of your mind where habits, beliefs, emotions, and automatic behaviors are stored.

Many people describe hypnosis as feeling similar to the relaxed state just before falling asleep or becoming completely absorbed in a good book or movie. Although you are deeply relaxed, you remain aware of your surroundings and in control throughout the session.

The subconscious mind is where many of your long-standing patterns, habits, behaviors, and beliefs are formed and maintained. While your conscious mind knows what changes you want to make, your subconscious may continue repeating familiar patterns that no longer serve you.

Hypnosis helps the conscious and subconscious mind work together. During each personalized session, your subconscious becomes more open to the positive changes you already want to make.

When both parts of your mind are working toward the same goal, change often feels easier and more natural. That's why hypnosis can be so effective for breaking unwanted habits, reducing stress and anxiety, overcoming fears, building confidence, improving motivation, and creating lasting positive change.

Can hypnosis make me do something against my will?

No.

One of the biggest misconceptions about hypnosis comes from the way it's portrayed on TV and in the movies. Real clinical hypnotherapy is very different.

While in hypnosis, you remain aware of what's happening and stay in control throughout the session. You cannot be made to do anything that goes against your values, morals, or personal beliefs. If a suggestion doesn't feel right to you, your mind will simply reject it.

Hypnosis is a collaborative process where you remain aware, comfortable, and in control while working toward your goals.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Most people describe hypnosis as a state of deep relaxation combined with focused attention.

As your body relaxes and your mind becomes more focused, everyday stress and distractions begin to fade. During your hypnotherapy session, you'll be gently guided into a relaxed state, allowing your subconscious to become more open to the positive changes you want to make.

Everyone experiences hypnosis a little differently, but most people leave feeling relaxed, refreshed, and more at peace than when they arrived.

What happens during a hypnotherapy session?

A typical hypnotherapy session lasts approximately 60 minutes.

Your session includes:

  • A conversation about your goals, concerns, and desired outcome

  • Time to answer any questions you may have

  • A personalized hypnosis experience designed specifically for your needs

  • Guided relaxation and visualization

  • Time afterward to discuss your experience and any next steps

Every session is customized because every client is unique.

Can anyone be hypnotized?

Most people are able to experience hypnosis.

In fact, you've probably already experienced natural hypnotic states. Becoming completely absorbed in a movie, driving home without remembering every mile ("highway hypnosis"), or losing track of time while reading are all examples of naturally focused states of hypnosis.

Some people enter hypnosis more easily than others, but practice often makes it even easier over time. Positive results can occur in light, medium, or deep levels of hypnosis.
